Money Phishing Online Dating Service Scams

Probably the most common of all the online dating service scams is those scams that involve fleecing an individual of his or her money. This usually entails an individual that one meets via a profile who develops a friendly relationship via the telephone or instant messaging and then springs what they are really after: money. Usually, they will present a sob story or a hard luck story with the expectation that you will help them out. Don?t fall for it. It is an obvious attempt to scam a good Samaritan.

Another dubious method of scamming people of their money is to offer prostitution services through a dating site. Of course, this occurs without the date sites knowledge (hopefully), but there are common occurrences of it depending upon how brazen the solicitor attempts to be. Needless to say, it would be a smart move to avoid anyone who attempt to solicit your for money.

Product scams are also another nuisance that have a tendency to flood online dating sites. These online dating service scams are little more than direct marketing ads masquerading as potential matches. The way this scam works is that a number of fake profiles will be devised as a means of flooding email accounts with ads for products of all sorts. These are nuisance spam scams that should not be rewarded with your patronage.

In short, online dating service scams have a tendency to reveal themselves rather easily through their own over the top, money seeking nature. If you come across one, don?t fall for it. Ignore it and move on to a real prospect instead. After all, is that not you original intention?
